Indeed, whilst Oxted Band was very glad to be launching the Sevenoaks Festival with a concert in the Vine Bandstand a couple of weeks back, the weather did it's best to make the afternoon a washout. However, Mother Nature hadn't reckoned with the determination of the hardy souls of Sevenoaks. They were there to enjoy a concert and that was exactly what they would do whatever the weather. As wind and rain did it's best to blow music off stands and soak the crowd, the band entertained a large crowd with everything from the hunting sounds of Post Horn Galop to the haunting tunes of Donegal Bay.
A week later, the sun had most definitely got his hat on for the Bletchingley Village Fair, and the band put their shades on (see photo!) and were glad to be under the cover of a gazebo whilst they joined in entertaining the crowd with a selection of other groups including, would you believe it, racing pigs! Ice creams were enjoyed in the break and the band played a wide variety of music which was much enjoyed by those sitting in the sun enjoying their refreshments!
The band now has a few weeks rest and rehearsal to prepare for a fun-filled August with engagements in Woldingham, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge. See our engagements page for further details.
