Oxted Band is delighted to announce that the guest soloist at its annual ‘Stars of Brass’ Concert on 12th
May 2012 will be Paul Lovatt Cooper.

Paul Lovatt Cooper is an incredibly talented percussionist, performing with the Black Dyke Band,
helping to win the British Open, National and European Brass Band Championships. He is also the
Composer in Association for the band and one of the most sought after young composing talents of his
generation. He is also the Guest Conductor of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland, Percussion
Tutor with the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain and Percussion and Composition Tutor at
the Brass Band Summer School.

Paul has performed as a soloist around the world and with the Oxted Band, amongst a varied
programme of music, will be playing a number of exciting percussion solos.

The concert will also feature the World Premiere of the piece of music ‘You’ve been Warned’ by Paul
Lovatt Cooper, commissioned by Oxted Band in memory of Dave Warne.

Dave Warne was a member of Oxted Band for many years as a player, and during this time loved to
compose and arrange pieces which he donated to the band. In his memory, Oxted Band approached
Paul to write a piece to encompass Dave’s sense of fun as well as his excellent musicianship. The
resulting piece ‘You’ve been Warned’ will have it’s first public performance at this concert.

The concert will take place at St John’s Church, Hurst Green, Oxted, Surrey on 12th May 2012 at 7:30.
Tickets are £8.00 each (£4.00 for children under 12) and are available by calling 01883 716523 or from
Whites Estate Agents, Station Road East, Oxted .
